Florence Rachel Papa

Florence Rachel Papa, 91, of Elkhart passed away July 27, 2010 in Elkhart. She was born February 20, 1919 to Dominic and Ida (Fortino) Cappelletti in Goshen. On September 5, 1939 she married Gene F. Papa in Elkhart. He passed away August 23, 1971 in Tustin, CA.

Florence is survived by sons Ron of Edmond, OK, and Jimmy (Cheryl) of Elkhart; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters Josephine Pugliese of Cerritos, CA, Delores DeGolier of Elkhart; and brothers Bob (Irene) Cappelletti of Lansing, MI and Pat (Pam) Cappelletti of Elkhart. Two brothers Dominic Jr. and Frank, and her parents preceded her in death.

Visitation will be at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart from 4 to 8 pm on Friday with a vigil service at 7:30 pm. Florence was a long time member of St. Thomas Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Saturday with burial following at Rice Cemetery. Rev. Kevin Bauman will officiate.

For many years, Flo could be found helping her son, Jim, with his hair styling business where she gave the “best shampoos” ever according to clients!
