Gene S. Bellamy, 77, of Elkhart, passed away Monday, November 28, 2011 at Greenleaf Health Campus. He was born June 5, 1934 in Butler, IN to Raymond and Florence C. (Clark) Bellamy. He married Maureen K. Hill in Auburn on March 29, 1954.

She survives along with 3 daughters Vicki (John) Thomas of New Palestine, IN, Debra (David) Kershner of Goshen and Cara (Steve) Starzyk of Elkhart; 2 sons Randall (Cindy) Bellamy of Huntington and Eric (Gayle) Bellamy of Jacksonville, FL; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 brother Duard (Grace) Bellamy of Butler; and 1 sister Gail (Thurlow) Hay of Auburn. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers Harold, William and Dorsey.

Gene retired in 1990 from NIPSCO after 34 years on the Street Department. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and was a softball coach at Elkhart Central High school. He also coached the Good Shepherd Church basketball team at the YMCA.

Friends may visit the family Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing, Elkhart and one hour prior to the 11 am service Thursday at Faith United Methodist, 22045 CR 18, Goshen. Rev. Larry Kurtz and Rev. John Thomas, Gene’s son-in-law, will officiate.
