Geneva B. Churchill

Geneva B. Churchill, 83, of Elkhart, died December 15, 2010 at 12:45 pm at Beardsley House, where she had been a resident since 2009. She was born June 21, 1927 to the late William “Harley” and Mina W. (Showalter) Thomas near Goshen. Geneva attended Clinton Community and Millersburg High Schools, later finishing her schooling by correspondence course.

On January 21, 1984 she married the love of her life, George E. Churchill, at Central Christian Church, Elkhart. They shared 25 happy years together. He preceded her in death on February 22, 2009.

Geneva worked for GTE telephone company as a service clerk for 41 years before retiring in 1984. She enjoyed travel, flower gardening and photography.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother John E. Thomas on July 15, 2009. She was a wonderful aunt and will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 7 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, at Cobblestone Crossing, Elkhart, where a funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 am. Dr. Mike Wills will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Grove Cemetery, Middlebury.
