Georgia O. Salee of Goshen, formerly Elkhart, IN. Baldwin Lake, Michigan passed away on October 31, 2024, with her family by her side. She was 97. She was welcomed in Heaven by her savior, Jesus. Mrs. Salee was born in White Pigeon, Michigan to Amos J. and O. Irene (Hathaway) Dunker, on February 22, 1927.
The family moved to Elkhart when she was in the first grade. She attended all grades in the Elkhart school system, graduating in the class of 1945. She studied marketing and business while working at the Elco Theater. After graduation she attended Indiana University, Bloomington campus. While attending Indiana University she worked at the IU student library on campus. Upon leaving college she worked in the office of H&L Selmer until her marriage to Russell Dallas (Bud) Salee on September 28, 1947. He was an Elkhart City fireman. He passed away on July 1, 1985.
Proceeding her in death besides her parents was a daughter, Martha J. (Frank) Ambler.A sister, Ruth Lightfoot, a brother Harry Dunker and a great granddaughter Madison Rose Gill.
Survivors include a daughter Barbara (Al) Reames of Bristol, IN. Also surviving are two granddaughters, Michelle Reames and Kristin (Scott) Gill, and two great granddaughters, Ashley (Joshua) Rumple and Faith (Zachary) Abney and great grandson, Carter (Emily) Gill and Najiyah Reames and 8 great great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She retired in July of 2004 as a secretary in the business office of Elkhart Community School Corporation after 44 years of service. She was a former member of Phi Mu Sorority, The Elkhart Educational Secretaries, and former member of the Ladies of the Moose Lodge #73 and Augustana Lutheran Church of Elkhart. She has been attending the Dunlap United Methodist Church.
Graveside services will be at 12:00 PM on Friday, November 8, 2024 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, IN. Pastor David Klahr will officiate. Stemm- Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd, Elkhart, IN 46514 is assisting Georgia’s family.
