Gerald A. Johnson, 86, of Elkhart, passed away on December 7, 2016 at home. He was born on June 28, 1930 in Farnam, Nebraska to Jonas A. and Ethel (Guggleman) Johnson. He married Mary Snyder. She preceded him in death in 1995. He then married Betty J. (Kissinger) Engle.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Betty, of Elkhart; a daughter, Diana L. (George) Johnson-Zornow of Owosso, MI; a son, Mark A. (Mary) Johnson of Addison, IL; 3 Grandchildren; a step-son, Gary L. Engle of Goshen, IN; a step-daughter, Donna (Patrick) Sting of Elkhart, IN; a daughter-in-law, Janis Engle of Elkhart, IN; 6 step-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Kenneth Johnson of Titusville, FL and Ronald Johnson of Goshen, IN; and a sister, June (Eugene) Williamson of Elkhart, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, a sister, Barbara Lau and a step-son, Terry Engle.
He was a Tool and Die Designer with C.G. Conn, HermaSeal and Bendix. He played golf with the Sodbusters. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War in Germany and France.
Friends may visit with the family Sunday, December 11 from 1-3 and 5-7 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service in his honor will be on Monday, December 12 at 11 A.M. at the funeral home. Pastor Dennis Olson of Adamsville Road Church of God will officiate. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, IN with full Military Honors.
