Geraldine E. Heist

Geraldine E. “Jerry” Heist, 93 of Elkhart went to be with her Lord and Savior and the love of her life, Jack on December 12, 2012.

She was born April 7, 1919 in Laflin, Missouri to James M. and Charlotte E. (Lund) Moore. She married Jack W.M. Heist on Sept. 14, 1935 in South Bend. He died June 20, 1970. Surviving are 4 daughters, Marilyn (Keith) Bates of Elkhart, Jen (Richard) Cooper of Sebring, FL, Becky (Ed) Baugher of Mechanicsville, VA and Chris King of Bristol; 15 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren. Jerry was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Daugherty, an infant son, Jack, a grandson, Dirk Skatvold and 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Jerry retired as manager for Paradise Pools in Elkhart and previously worked at C.T.S. Corp. in Elkhart and Vincent Bach in Yonkers, NY. She was the matriarch of the Heist family.

Visitation will be from 2-4 pm Saturday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart where services will be held at 4 pm. Private graveside services will be at Rice Cemetery.
