H. Jean “Squeak” Watson, 88 a lifelong resident of Bristol, passed away on Friday, Sept. 30th at the home of his son, Jack.
He was born May 20, 1928 in Jones, MI to Jean L. and Irene M. (Kolb) Watson. He married Dorothy M. Dausman on Dec. 4, 1948 in Goshen. She survives along with 5 sons, Thomas (June) Watson, Jack (Brenda) Watson, David (Vicki) Watson, Bill (Jan) Watson and Daniel (Jessie) Watson and a daughter, Doreen (Dennis) Kauffman all of Bristol; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry, brother, Charles and a sister, Colleen Miller.
Jean was a foreman for Rieth-Riley Co. for 24 years and Vulcan Materials for 5 years. He retired as a heavy equipment operator for Niblock Excavating Co.
Jean graduated from Jefferson High School and was an avid hunter, trapper, practical joker, story-teller and Colt’s fan.
Family and friends may visit from 2-6 pm on Tuesday, Oct. 4th at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart where a Masonic Service will be held at 6 pm, followed by a Memorial Service officiated by Rev. John Hogsett. Visitation will continue until 8 pm. Burial will be at Trout Creek Cemetery at a later date.
