Harold "Hal" Bechtel

Harold Carl Bechtel, 87, of Elkhart, IN passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Hubbard Hill Nursing Home. Harold was born on September 13, 1937, in Lakewood, OH to Carl and Theresa Bechtel. On January 11, 1958, Harold married Barbara J. Thompson in Rocky River, OH. She preceded him in death on September 23, 2014.

Harold owned Paints and Solvents in Elkhart, IN from 1979-1995. Throughout his life, Harold always stayed close to God, faithfully attending church with his wife Barbara.

Hal is survived by his children, Becky (Bob) Brown of Elkhart, IN, Bob (Nancy) Bechtel of Elkhart, IN and Bill (Jodi) Bechtel of Summerville, SC; grandchildren, Libby Brown, Jason Brown, Jessica (Ryan) Hellman, Amanda (Kyle) Bartlett and Katelyn Bechtel; 5 great-grandchildren, and brother Jerry (Carol) Bechtel of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Jean Bechtel; wife of 56 years Barbara Bechtel; grandson Brian Swartzentruber and son-in-law Bob Brown.
