Harold “Skip” A. Winesburg, 84, of Bristol passed away Monday morning, May 23, at his home.
He was born December 21, 1931 in Elkhart to Harold O. and Helen F. (Rich) Winesburg. He married Mary L. Juday on March 1, 1953 in Anchorage, AK. She survives along with a daughter, Jane Redford of Haiku, HI, a son, Jim (Rena) Winesburg of Bristol, a grandson, Nicolas Deel of Haiku, HI and 3 sisters, Barbara Stickel of Mojave, CA, Judy Cooper of Hicksville, OH, and Jo Reimer of Winter Haven, FL. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn Winesburg and grandson, Dylan Winesburg.
Skip graduated from Elkhart High School in 1950 and served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Anchorage. He was director of purchasing for DuraKool for 25 years and then worked for Hibshman Screw Machine Products for 10 years. He was a founding member of the Elkhart Vette Set Corvette Club and was a car enthusiast. He took great pride in landscaping his yard, enjoyed wintering in Florida and was well known for his one of a kind sense of humor.
A gathering of family and friends will be from noon to 2 pm Saturday, June 4th at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 pm with Pastor Rod Holmes officiating. Services will conclude with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to A.D.E.C. or the Humane Society of Elkhart County.
