Harriet A. Owens Funk

Harriet A. Owens Funk, 77 of Elkhart, IN. died April 1, 2011 at 7:04 P.M. at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born on September 11, 1933 to Herman A. and Anne Belle (Cranford) Owens. She was previously married to Robert O. Funk who passed away on Sept. 20, 1998.

Surviving is a son, Michael D. (Patti) Funk of Pensacola, FL., two daughters, Cheryl (Philip) Harland of St. Louis, MO. And Laurie (David) Van Kirk of Elkhart, eight grandchildren; Michael C. (Kim) Funk, Jennifer (Rich) Hensley, Erika (James) Monroe, Aaron R. Leiter, Christine Harland, Laura (Mike) Barks, Jacqueline Harland and Adam G. Van Kirk. She was also blessed with 13 Great Grandchildren. A brother, David Owens, preceded her in death.

Friends may call 5-8 P.M. Monday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing and one hour prior to services which will be held at 1 P.M. Tuesday with Pastor Dennis Chaput of Open Door Christian Fellowship officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola

Mrs. Funk retired from the Elkhart County Court in 2005 after 20 years as a clerk for Superior Court 3. She was a member of the Open Door Christian Fellowship of Elkhart and the Homeland Garden Club. She loved to cook, bake, listen to Bill Gaither and southern gospel music.
