Harvey “Sam” Samuel Wambaugh, age 86, of Elkhart passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Sam was born on January 17, 1933 in Elkhart to E.H. and Glenyce Wambaugh.
Sam was a retired RV driver. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He truly loved and respected the outdoors. He had a special love for dogs and cats and even helped to rescue pitbulls.
Sam is survived by his daughter; Martha “Marty” (Chuck) Richardson of Sebastian, FL, his sons; John (Julie Lucky) Wambaugh of South Bend and Frank Wambaugh of Elkhart. He is also survived by his sister, Gretchen (Dick) Koerting of Elkhart, nine grandchildren; Ryan (Amy) Wiltfong, Angela Vore, Andy (Tina) Wiltfong, Adam (Stephanie) Wambaugh, Andrea Wambaugh and Katie Wambaugh and nine great grandchildren as well as 6 nephews. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Kristine Wiltfong and his brother John “Woody” Wambaugh.
In keeping with Sam’s wishes there will a time to celebrate his life on Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 12:00pm to 2:00 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd, Elkhart, IN
Memorial donations may be made in memory of Sam to the Elkhart County Humane Society.
