Haskle “JR” Kline, Jr., 87, of Bristol, father of Steven Kline of Sturgis, Michigan and Keith (Betty Lou) Kline of Bristol, grandfather of Mickayla, Megan and Michael Kline, died Thursday Aug. 23,2013 in Elkhart following an extended illness.
He was born February 4, 1926 in Goshen to the late Haskle and Eva (Cripe) Kline. He was married June 24, 1950 to Lois (Kreischer) Kline who preceded him in death on Aug. 20, 2012. Brothers and sisters include the late Max Kline,Sr; George (Helen) Kline, Bristol; Evelyn Murdock, Goshen; Pearl Overholser, Bristol; Robert (Tilly) Kline, Bristol; Marjorie Horn, Goshen; and Dale Kline, Goshen.
Haskle had a strong interest in genealogy which filled his retirement years. He spent many hours combing cemeteries, visiting courthouses, and writing letters to gather his information and documents. He and his brother were also instrumental in getting the Cripe Cemetery in Goshen, which had been absorbed into a cow pasture, recognized as a Historic Cemetery by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. In addition, he enjoyed collecting items and amassed an amazing collection of some of his favorites.
Friends may call Monday 4 to 7pm at the Stemm- Lawson- Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart; where the funeral will be held Tuesday, August 27th at 1 pm with Rev. Karen Strietelmeier officiating. Following the service he will be buried with military honors at Little Pine Cemetery, Goshen.
Memorials may be offered to Zion Lutheran Church, Bristol.
