Hazel I. Hess, 102 of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday December 9, 2015 at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born Oct. 17, 1913 in Flint, IN to Eugene and Nellie Rose (Miller) Denman. She married Arthur W. Hess on Feb. 23, 1935 in Elkhart. He died on May 11, 1987. Surviving are 2 daughters, Natalie Adams of Goshen and Eugenia Mauck of Elkhart and a son, Ronald Schlichtenmyer of Alpine, CA; 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter; and a half-brother, Fred Denman. She was preceded in death by a sister, a brother, 2 half-brothers and a half-sister.
Hazel was a homemaker and worked as a packager for Needlecraft for 15 years. She retired as a cashier and hostess at the Moose Lodge after 7 years. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star, Past Senior Regent of Women of the Moose, Member of College of Regents, Friendly Pioneers and DAV Auxiliary.
Graveside services will be held at 11 am Saturday, Dec. 12th at the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Rice Cemetery where entombment will follow.
