Helen Kathleen Friesner, 90, of Shipshewana, went home to be with her Lord and beloved husband at 5 pm December 31, 2010 at Millers Merry Manor, Lagrange, IN.
She was born December 20, 1920 in Ligonier to Ira C. and Mary M. (Burk) Snow and married Ralph R. Friesner on Jan. 13, 1940 in Elkhart. He died May 19, 1996. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara L. Friesner of Shipshewana, 2 sons, Daniel (Susan) Friesner of Elyria, OH and David (Jolene) Friesner of Thorntown, IN; grandchildren, Scott (Leslie), Shannon, Sheri, Brittany Friesner and Stephanie (Jason) Brooks; great-grandchildren, Chandler, Mason, Cooper, Tyler Spencer, Hunter and Hailey, a sister, Betty Severs of Elkhart and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Friesner worked in the Lab at Elkhart General Hospital part-time and worked in the marking room at Drakes and Ziesels. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Elkhart and loved doing cookie time at Sunday school. She loved to crochet and sew and made the best homemade pies. She was active in the P.T.A. She moved to Shipshewana to be closer to her daughter, but her heart was always in Elkhart where she had lived for many years.
Visitation will be 4-8 pm Tuesday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing, Elkhart where services will be at 10 am Wednesday. Reverend Daniel Gelatt will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Grove Cemetery, Middlebury.
Memorials may be given to Gideon’s International or First Baptist Church, Elkhart.
