Helen Mae Hollison, 84, died October 16, 2011 at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born November 27, 1926 in DesMoines, IA to James Lester and Goldia O. (Sparks) Eaton.
On May 2, 1944 she married Burdette M. Stephen in DesMoines. He died April 5, 1965. She married Leland P. Hollison November 27, 1970 in DesMoines. She had worked as a bookkeeper and secretary. The last 15 years of their retirement was spent in Weslaco, TX. They were members of the Living Word Church, and founded and operated the Senior Day Care Center until Lee’s death June 19, 2002. Helen then moved to Middlebury, IN to be close to her daughter. She founded the Middlebury Chapter of Red Hatters, called the Middlebury Middies and was Queen Mum for several years. She loved the Lord, and would give you the shirt off her back.
She is survived and mourned by daughter G. Ann Andre of Bristol; her grandsons Adam S. (Connie) Andre of Peachtree City, GA, and Stephen W. (Kelly) Andre of Clarksville, TN; great-granddaughters Jordyn, Jayme and Camryn Andre of Mishawaka, and great-grandson Kinnick Stephen Andre of Clarksville; her sister Mabel Tuinstra of DesMoines; and 1 niece and 3 nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing, Elkhart. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11:30 am at New Creation Fellowship, 30190 CR 10, Granger, with Pastors David and Jeaneen Klahr officiating. A tea luncheon will immediately follow the service.
