Helen E. Levitz

Helen E. Levitz, 91, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully Wednesday March 16, 2016 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa surrounded by her family.
She was born Sep. 12, 1924 in Eagle Rock, VA to Otho and Bertie (Hickman) Johnson. On Dec. 22, 1945 in Sturgis, MI she married Carl E. Levitz, Sr. who preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 2000.
Surviving are 4 daughters: Phyllis (Bruce) Troyer of Elkhart, Diane Mills of Edwardsburg, MI., Connie Roose of Goshen, and Brenda Beachy of Elkhart, 2 sons: Carl (Shirley) Levitz, Jr. of Elkhart and Roger (Diana) Levitz of Bristol, 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and a sister Flora Ayers of Buchanan, VA. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Joe, Roy, Ray, Rodney and Thurman Johnson and three sisters: Nellie Hohnke, Daisy Peery and Cottie Britt; granddaughter Chantell Levitz and Great -grandson Coty.
She loved fishing, camping and cooking! You could always eat at mom’s!
Visitation will be 11am to 1 pm Saturday March 19 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home where services will be at 1pm. Pastor Nathan Breneman of Northside Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart.
