Hugh J. Gruver

Hugh Jay Gruver, age 80, of Elkhart passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. He was born April 17, 1940 in Goshen to Hugh J. and Inez Gruver. On July 20, 1963 he married Carol Ann Brant at River Park United Methodist Church in South Bend.

After graduating from Jimtown High School, Hugh honorably served his country in the US Army. Hugh began his career as a State Farm Insurance Agent in Mishawaka. He furthered his career in the RV Industry as a District Sales Manager for Georgie Boy, Shasta, Coachmen and Executive Motor Coach companies. After retirement Hugh was still active, as he worked at Medix where he delivered ambulances. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Elkhart Lions Club, Michiana Emmaus Board and the American Legion Post 143 in Bristol, IN. Hugh enjoyed gardening, landscaping and travel.

Hugh is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carol, daughter, Kimberly (Brian) Daub of Elkhart, a son, Steven (Michelle) Gruver of Edwardsburg, MI, his son-in-law Thomas Evelock of Granger, IN a sister Ruth Ann (Gordon) Bohs of Rochester, IN, his brothers, Ned (Brenda) Gruver of Goshen and Ted (Kathy) Gruver of Elkhart and 4 grandchildren—Jessica Mills (Austin), Jordan Daub, Marie Gruver and Aubrey Gruver. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Christine Evelock.

Visitation will be from 10 am to 1 pm on Saturday March 20, 2021 at Trinity on Jackson, 2715 E. Jackson Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46516 where the funeral service will follow at 3 pm with Pastors Karen Koelsch and Tom Thews officiating.
