Iva L. Vail

Iva L. Vail, 85 of Elkhart, Indiana died December 25, 2009 @ 8:30 A.M. at the Hospice House of Elkhart. She was born on November 20, 1924 in Cassopolis, Michigan to John and Alma (Johnson) Lapham. She married Levi H. Vail Sr. on July 9, 1943 in Salina, Kansas. He preceded her in death on August 12, 1995.

Survivors include three daughters, Caroline Bellaire and Elaine (Wayne) Matthews both of Elkhart and Linda (Donald) Bigelow of Cassopolis, Michigan; four sons, Michael L. Vail, Larry Vail, Levi H. (Judy) Vail Jr.
and Gary D. (Cinda) Vail all of Elkhart; twenty grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren; a brother, John Lapham of Wakely, Michigan and a sister, Evelyn Brooks of Eau Claire, Michigan. Preceding her in death were a son, John E. Vail, brothers Raymond and Roy Lapham and a sister Wilma Perry.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Union Protestant Cemetery in Daily, Michigan with the Reverend Robert Wood of the New Life Baptist Church officiating. Stemm Lawson Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Boulevard, Elkhart is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Vail worked as a cashier for Willards Grocery Store, GNC in Concord Mall, Parkmore Drug Store and Summit Ridge Pharmacy. She attended Northside Church of the Nazarene and loved her children and grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Hospice House of Elkhart.
