J. Eric Haitsma

J. Eric Haitsma, 51 of Elkhart, passed away March 4, 2013. He was born December 15, 1961 in Elkhart to Klaas and Cornelia (VanderSijs) Haitsma . Surviving are a son, John Tyler Haitsma of Bloomington and a daughter, Delaynie Grace Haitsma of Goshen; Siblings, Robert Haitsma of Cody, WY, Anthony Haitsma of Goshen, Dawn (Brian) Desimone and Steven (Jamie) Haitsma both of Elkhart; His father and step-mother, Klaas and Bonnie Haitsma of Goshen and his mother, Cornelia VanderSijs of Elkhart.

Eric graduated from Elkhart Central High School in 1980 and owned Haitsma Lawn Care. He was a police officer for Goshen Police Dept. from 1990 to 1998. Eric was an avid Miami Dolphins fan and had an extreme passion for fish and aquariums.

Visitation will be Saturday from 12 pm to 4 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart where a memorial service will be at 4 pm. Reverend Carl Crise will officiate. Cremation has taken place.
