Jack E. Linn, 90, of Elkhart, passed away October 31, 2012 at his home.
He was born November 13, 1921 in Elkhart to Louis and Frances (Kunze) Linn and married Patricia Melczek who preceded him in death. Surviving are 2 nieces, Nancy (Bill) Scarbro of Bloomfield Hills, MI and Jan (Craig) Adams of Bradenton, FL; 3 great-nieces, Laura Scarbro of Bloomfield Hills, MI, Janet (Dave) Cobb of Sumpter, SC, and Jacki Adams of Madison, WI; 1 great-great-niece, Sophia Scarbro of Bloomfield Hills, MI and friends, Judy and Gary Boyn of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Bailey and a friend Louise Maxwell.
Jack served in World War II with the U.S. Army and retired as a maintenance supervisor for Whitehall Laboratories. He was a member of George Washington Masonic Lodge 325, Bristol, Scottish Rite, Valley of South Bend, Mizpah Shrine and the American Legion Post 143, Bristol. He was an avid boater and enjoyed hydroplane and midget racing.
Visitation will be from 2-6 pm Sunday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart where services will be at 10 am Monday. Pastor Tim Diemer will officiate. Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery where the U.S. Army and VFW #985 Goshen will conduct military honors.
