Jack Lyon, 97, of Elkhart, passed away Thursday May 31, 2018 at Greenleaf Health Campus, Elkhart.
He was born Jan. 13, 1921 in Chicago to Dwayne A. and Maude (Johnson) Lyon. He married Edith Landis on August 16, 1941. She preceded him in death on Feb. 23, 1977. He then married Dora B. Pence on August 27, 1977 in Bristol.
He is survived by his wife, Dora, of Elkhart; His children: Dennis (Barbara) Lyon of Elkhart, Mrs. David (Rhonda) Powell of Ft. Worth, TX and Timothy Lyon of Oak Harbor, WA; a step-daughter, Mrs. William (Pamela) Thompson of Clinton Twp., MI. 8 Grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 5 step-great-grandchildren also survive.
Jack was preceded in death by a 2 brothers, Dean and Gail Lyon, and a sister, Patricia Dale.
Mr. Lyon graduated from Bristol High School and attended Elkhart Business College for 2 years. He served his country honorably in the United Stated Navy in WWII. He was an Electrician, having worked for CTS for 41 years. He was a member of Bristol United Methodist Church, Lion’s Club, George Washington Masonic Lodge in Bristol and the Eastern Star. He was a past member of the VFW Post 1106 and a past member of the Moose Lodge.
A graveside service will take place at Plum Grove Cemetery in Union, MI at 1 PM on Saturday June 9. Pastor Gary Lewis will officiate. There will be a Masonic Memorial Service and Military honors by the US Navy and Edwardsburg American Legion.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Bristol United Methodist Church or Heartland Hospice.
