James Robert Bailey, 76, of Bristol, passed away Thursday April 22, 2021 at his home.
He was born March 30, 1945 in Blue Island, Illinois to Glenn W. and Mary Jane (Bastian) Bailey. He married Donna Lutz in 1968. He married Kathy Robinson in 1983.
He graduated Ivy Tech. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was a purchasing agent for DEHCO/Cast Products in Elkhart. He was also formerly employed with Champion, Titan, Travel Craft, Ramco Industries and was owner of Poor Tony’s Restaurant. He enjoyed going to the casino, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, being on the river and turkey shoots at Simonton Lake Sportsman’s Club. He was a lifetime member of the DAV# 19, Elkhart.
Surviving are daughters, Anita (Robert) Bowen of Mishawaka, Shawn Bailey of Elkhart and Takiyah Jazmine Bailey of Elkhart, his grandchildren, Sarah Bowen, Andrew Bowen and Christian Huffman, great grandchildren, Jordan Hamman, Lilliana Hamman, Addison Hamman, Queen Williams and Jared Rodney Huffman; his sister, Mary Lou (Don) Yoder of Mishawaka, Marie Minutillo and his brother, Myron Bailey. He was preceded in death by his wives, Donna and Kathy; his brothers Billy Bailey and Thomas Francis Bailey.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 3 pm where friends may visit with family from 12pm – 3 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514. Entombment will be at 11am on Monday, May 3, 2021 for close friends and family at Rice Cemetery with full military honors with the US Army and DAV#19.
