James Henry Burgess

James Henry Burgess, 77, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday June 3, 2018 at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born May 8, 1941 in Cedar Grove, WV to Harry and Mina (Thomas) Burgess. On Oct. 19, 1963 in Elkhart he married Martha L. Caldwell who preceded him in death on June 29, 2004.

Surviving are a daughter Lisa (Tim) Namisnak of Elkhart, a son James D. (Nikki) Burgess of Middlebury and 5 grandchildren Andy, Mike and Emily Namisnak and Drew and Eric Burgess. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Ralph, Clarence, Kenneth, Endom and Ed Burgess and 5 sisters, Gertrude, Ray Joyce, Zelma, Juanita and Daisy.

Henry retired from Park Homes after 4 years as plant superintendent. He had previously had worked for 4 years at Aurandco Co. and 18 years at Elcona Homes. He was a member of the Independent Order of Forresters.

Family and friends may call from 5-8 pm Thursday, June 7th at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home where his funeral service will be held at 10 am Friday, June 8th. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
