James H. Collins, 81, of Bristol, passed away January 10, 2008.
He was born to Harry and Ann Collins and married Maxine Swanson. She preceded in death. He then married Elizabeth Watson. She survives with 3 sons, Steve (Rhonda) Collins, Rich (Kathy) Collins and Bob (Diane Daley) Collins, 1 daughter, Kathy (Ron) Robinson; 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ann (Dick) Springer; 2 step-daughters, Elizabeth (Ron) Richardson and Cynthia (Trapper) Richardson; 7 step-grandchildren, 1 step-great-grandson. A brother, Richard Collins and a step-son Michael Watson preceded in death.
Mr. Collins retired as owner of the Red Bird Cafe in Bristol since 1947 and was a member of the Lima Presbyterian Church, Howe, IN; He was a charter member of Maplecrest Country Club, Goshen; George Washington Masonic Lodge, Bristol; American Legion #143, Bristol; VFW # 985 Goshen and a longtime republican precinct committeeman in Bristol. He enjoyed golf, boating, travel and his family and friends. He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII.
Visitation is from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Sunday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home where services will be at 10 am Monday. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery, Bristol.
Memorials may be given to American Diabetes Association.
