James M. Conn Jr.

James M. Conn, Jr., 76 of Elkhart, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the Elkhart Hospice House.
He was born Feb. 14, 1940 in Hammond, IN to James M. and Lillis (McDowell) Conn Sr.

He married Lana S. Fedder on April 18, 1981 in Elkhart. She survives along with their 3 children, James M. (Adriana) Conn III of New Braunfels, TX, Kimberly (Stephen) Potter of Ormond Beach, FL and Clarissa (Jack) Riddle of Brighton, MI; 8 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Jeff (Robin) Conn of Jacksonville, FL and Tom (Kathy) Conn of Elkhart and a sister, Betsy (Mike) Clinton of Birmingham, Al. He was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Stull and his parents.

Jim proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959-63 and retired as an Elkhart City Fireman after 20 years, where he served as 2nd Assistant Chief. Jim was also in the first graduating class of paramedics in the State of Indiana. He was a member of the Indiana Firefighters Association and loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his grandchildren and family.

A memorial service will be held at noon Tuesday, June 28th at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home. Family and friends may visit from 10 am to noon. Rev. Keith McFarren will officiate. Military honors will conclude the service.
