James R. Estes

James R. Estes, 61, of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday May 13, 2015 at Elkhart Rehabilitation Center.
He was born March 28, 1954 in Winfield, Alabama to Jack and Mary (Flynn) Estes. Surviving are 3 sons, Curtis (Heather) Estes of Bristol, Johnny Newell Estes of Elkhart and Brett Estes of California; 1 daughter, Jackie Estes of Elkhart; 7 grandchildren; 1 brother, Mike (Pam) Estes of Osceola, 2 sisters, Donna Estes of Elkhart, Sheila (Steve) Lacy of Del-City, OK; 1 step-sister, Renee Miller of Toulon, IL and his mother, Mary Lowther of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Estes, a brother, Jack and his step-father, Gene Lowther.

James was a chef and enjoyed cooking. He also had worked at various factories.

A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, May 15th from 5-7 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the gathering with interment at Prairie Street Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may be given to the Humane Society of Elkhart County or to AseraCare Hospice.
