James “Jim” Hacker, 79, of Elkhart, passed away Monday Sep. 14, 2015 at his home.
He was born April 16, 1936 in Huntington, IN to Eva and Roy Hacker.
On August 9, 1959 in Warren, IN he married Suzanne Klepser who survives along with 2 sons: Dennis (Cheryl) Hacker of Dublin, OH and Dr. Kevin (Coleen) Hacker of Cupertino, CA. and 2 grandchildren: Brittany and Jonathan.
Jim graduated from Ball State University and received his Master’s Degree from Western Michigan University. He taught in the Quincy, MI and Elkhart Community Schools. He later owned Hacker Construction, building many residential homes in the Elkhart area.
Jim was a member of the Elkhart Homebuilders Association and Faith United Methodist Church where he was a trustee and a member of the building committee.
A celebration of Life Service will be held at noon on Saturday Sep. 19 at Faith United Methodist Church with Pastor John Hogsett officiating. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service. Cremation has taken place.
Memorials may be given to the church or Parkinson’s Research.
