James A. Myers, 51, of Bristol, passed away November 25, 2008 at Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born May 1, 1957 in Elkhart, to George and June (Brown) Myers. Surviving are a brother, Tom (Jeannie) Myers of Bristol and his companion dogs, Radar and Molly. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Patty Rheinheimer and a brother, Bill Myers.
Jim was a final assembler and piccolo and flute builder for Conn-Selmer. He was a member and past master of Vandalia Lodge #290 F&AM; Saladin Shrine Temple; Cass County Shrine Club; Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend; Bristol American Legion #143 and Edwardsburg Conservation Club. He was an avid bowler and played fast pitch softball. He also enjoyed golfing and bird hunting.
He graduated from Elkhart Memorial High School and earned an associates degree from Ivy Tech.
A celebration of life open house will be held from 1-3 pm Saturday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd. Elkhart . A service will begin at 3 pm with Reverend David Hudson officiating, followed by a masonic candlelight service conducted by the Vandalia Masonic Lodge. Cremation has taken place with entombment at the Joy Tower at Rice Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be given to the Cass County Shrine Club or the Shriners Hospital in Chicago.
