Janet Lee Toland

Janet Lee (Flood) Toland, 66 of Elkhart, passed away March 6, 2014 in her home. She was born March 25, 1947 in New Brunswick, NJ to John A. and Janet F. (Fiedorowicz) Flood. She married Gary L. Toland on June 20, 1970 in St. Joseph, MI. He survives with 2 daughters, Brigid Steinhagen and Kara Toland both of Elkhart; 4 grandchildren, Zachary, Caitlynn, Madison, and Ethan; 1 brother, Larry (Karla) Flood of Stevensville, MI and her father, John A. Flood of St. Joseph, MI. Janet was preceded in death by her mother. Janet earned her Bachelor’s degree from Fontbone College in St. Louis, MO and taught in the Elkhart Community Schools. She was a member of Our Lady of The Lake Church in Edwardsburg and loved to read, garden and shop. She dearly loved her grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Tuesday, March 11th at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:45 pm.
A rescheduled Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am Thursday, March 13th at Our Lady of the Lake Church, Edwardsburg with visitation 45 minutes prior to Mass, followed by a luncheon. Reverend Joseph McCormick will officiate. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph, Michigan at 3 pm Thursday.
