Janice L. Maier

Janice L. Maier, 66, of Elkhart, passed away January 7, 2013 at her home.

She was born February 16, 1946 in Elkhart to Irvin Kenneth and Ernestine (Thorpe) Johnson and married Larry D. Maier on May 5, 1979. Surviving are a son, Wesley D. (Andrea) Maier of Elkhart, a grandson, Thomas David Maier, 3 brothers, Stephen K. Johnson of Elkhart, Roger K. (Sue) Johnson of Alexandria, MN and David K. (Donna) Johnson of Elkhart and an aunt, Susie (Ray) Reas of Elkhart. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Thomas K. Johnson.

Janice graduated from Concord High School in 1964 and retired from Federal Paperboard Co. where she worked in production. She enjoyed her flowers/garden, doing puzzles and spending time in the kitchen. She loved being a grandma and being with her brothers. She was always willing to help anyone in need. She was an avid Notre Dame football fan.

Visitation for Janice will be 2 hours prior to the 12 pm service on Friday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart. Rev. David Garty will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Elkhart County.
