Jeffery L. Messick

Jeffery Lynn Messick, 64, of Elkhart passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Elkhart General Hospital. Jeff was born on March 4, 1955 in Elkhart to Carl and Lois (Truex) Messick.

Jeff was a wonderful son, brother, uncle and friend with a great sense of humor. He formerly worked as a switchman for the railroad, LaVanture Products as a shift foreman and extrusion operator, and for his brother at Messick Lawn maintenance. He loved sports, especially Notre Dame, and fantasy football. Jeff loved classic rock and his favorite song was “Chevy Van”. He also had a great love for animals, especially the many dogs he had over the years.

Jeff is survived by his mother, Lois Messick; his sisters, Cindy Cain and Heidi Trowbridge, his brother Tom (Carol) Messick all of Elkhart. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Tasha (Ryan) Gawthrop, Dustin (Cristyn) Messick, Nikki Cain, Tyler “TJ” (Jessica) Cain, Trevor Trowbridge, Kayla Trowbridge and Hannah Trowbridge. He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be held at 12 pm on Thursday May 2, 2019 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd, Elkhart. Visitation will be one hour before the services at the funeral home. Interment will follow at California Road Cemetery.
