Jerry Allen Kidder, 78, of Osceola, passed away Tuesday March 4, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on January 3, 1947, in Elkhart County to Alfred E. and Jean N. (Hammond) Kidder. On June 14, 1969, he married Patricia Ann Holt.
After graduating high school, Jerry honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he was awarded a Purple Heart and a Quilt of Valor. Jerry took immense pride in the country that he lived in and held great respect for the men and women who have served our country in the armed forces. Jerry was honored to have flown on the Honor Flight with his son Mark. He worked for Skyline Manufacturing for 22 and a half years and Utilimaster for 20 years. Jerry enjoyed bowling in his younger years, as he was a member of 3 different leagues. He also was a great fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. If the steelers were not televised at home, he always looked forward to going to Between the Buns with his son Mark and grandson Christopher “Teddy Bear” to catch the game. Jerry always looked forward to taking vacations with his wife whom he loved so dearly. He will be dearly missed.
Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Patricia; son, Mark A. (Lorrie) Kidder of South Bend, IN daughters Tracy Kidder of Mishawaka, IN and Lori Russell of Mishawaka, 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, brothers Al (Susie) Kidder of Soldotna, Alaska and Toby (Nancy) Kidder of Goshen and sister Janice Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Linda Newton and brother in laws Cliff Newton and Harry Newton.
Visitation for Jerry will be from 11am to 1pm on Monday March 10, 2025, at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 where funeral service will be at 1pm with Pastor Toby Kidder officiating.
