Jesse James Gibson

Jesse J. Gibson, 51 of Elkhart, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born June 25, 1962 in Elkhart to James W. and Florence A. (Yeager) Gibson. He married Cathy R. Martin on February 13, 2001. She survives with 3 children, Bobby Gill and Steven Martin of Elkhart and Yvonne Hill of Middlebury; 16 grandchildren; 1 brother, Oscar Gibson of Elkhart and 2 sisters, Renee Newman of Elkhart and Denise Pelech of Peoria, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, Sheila, Rose Marie, and Regina Fay Gibson, a step-brother, Edward Oakley and his grandparents.

Jesse had worked for Elkhart Tool and Die Company before becoming disabled. He enjoyed gardening and did volunteer work with the F.O.P.

A celebration of life service will be held at 4 pm Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013 at Granger Community Church, 2701 E. Bristol Street, Elkhart. Pastor Gene Troyer will officiate.

Memorials may be given to the Elkhart County Humane Society. In accordance with Jesse’s wishes cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral & Cremation Center. Online condolences may be sent at www.stemmlawsonpeterson.com.
