Jessie Harris

Jessie Harris, affectionately known as Mickey, passed away peacefully at the age of 89. Born on August 8, 1935 in Hayti, Missouri; she lived a life filled with love, creativity and entrepreneurship. Mickey grew up in Hayti, where she cultivated her talents and graduated from Hayti High School in 1953. After completing her education, Mickey began her professional journey at Taylor Products; showcasing her strong work ethic and dedication. Mickey was known for her exceptional sewing skills; she earned the title of the best seamstress in Elkhart. Her passion for crafting beautiful garments not only brought joy to her clients but also created lasting memories within the community.

Mickey will be remembered for her warm spirit, artistic flair, and the love she shared with family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of creativity and resilience that will continue to inspire those who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings and her beloved daughter Sherwyn Harris. Mickey leaves to cherish her memories, five sons; Ralph (Gloria) Harris of Hayti, Missouri; Randy (Darlene) Robinson of Blytheville, Arkansas; Wilbur (Jeanette) Robinson of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Reginald (Trina) Harris of Elkhart, Indiana and Gaven (Tracy) Harris of Atlanta, Georgia; one daughter Demeta (Henry Royal) Harris of Elkhart, Indiana. Mickey has a host of grand, great grand and great great grand children, cousins, nieces and nephews that will miss her dearly.

Visitation will be from 1pm – 2pm on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Community Missionary Baptist Church, 228 Chapman Ave. Elkhart, IN, 46516, where a funeral service will begin at 2pm. Rev. Clarence Jones will be officiating.
