Joanne Elizabeth Douglas

Joanne Elizabeth Douglas, 81 of Bristol, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013 at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born September 19, 1932 in Elkhart to Lorenzo and Addie A. (Ousterhout) Schrock. She married her high school sweetheart Raymond M. Douglas Jr. on June 21, 1953 in Elkhart. Surviving are 4 daughters, Lori (Jeff) Whisler, Teri (Bud) Stout, Juli (Stan) Burt and Jodi (Jim) Riester all of Elkhart, a son, Stephen (Terri) Douglas of South Bend; 23 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond on April 17, 2010, a sister, Delores Lantz, a brother, Leonel Schrock and her parents.

Joanne was office manager for Douglas Investment Services in Elkhart for 20 years. She was a devoted member of Bethel United Methodist Church having served in all capacities. She enjoyed golfing and playing Bridge, but her greatest joy came from being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Visitation for Joanne will be Sunday, Sept.29th from 2-5 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral & Cremation Center, Elkhart. Services will be Monday at 10 am at Bethel United Methodist Church, Elkhart where visitation will be a half hour prior. Reverend Keith McFarren will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery.
