John E. Harrison

John E. "Jack" Harrison, 87, of Elkhart, and formerly of Terre Haute for 35 years, passed away at 2:50 pm, April 24, 2009 at Valley View Healthcare Center, Elkhart.

He was born February 8, 1922 in Edwardsburg, Michigan to John E. and Edith (Powel) Harrison and married Ruth R. Mann on July 11, 1942 in Elkhart. She survives with 2 sons, Larry Harrison of Indianapolis, IN and Carl Harrison of Elkhart, 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and a brother, Dr. James (Marjorie) Harrison of Florida. 3 sisters preceded in death, Bertha Stauffenberg, Eleanor Bethune and Katherine Lincoln-Spurlin.

Mr. Harrison was a telephone electrical engineer for GTE and retired in 1988. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He graduated from Edwardsburg High School and Purdue University with a degree in Electrical Engineering.

Friends may call from 6-8 pm Monday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart and an hour prior to the 10:30 am funeral service Tuesday at the funeral home. Reverend Jack McGlasson will officiate. Burial will follow at Edwardsburg Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Alzheimers Association.
