John D. Innes

John D. Innes, 82, of Bristol, IN, passed away December 24, 2008 at Elkhart General Hospital, after a sudden illness.

He was born December 3, 1926 in Sanilac County, MI to David and Emily (Marsh) Innes. He married Faye L. Perkins on January 20, 1951 in Berkley, MI. She preceded in death on December 17, 2008. Surviving are 2 sons, John O. (Terri) Innes of Grant, Alabama and Craig A. (Nita) Innes of Milford, IN; 2 daughters, Candice (Claude) Daily of New Baltimore, MI and Melodie (Don) Halvorsen of Bristol, IN; 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a sister, Maxine Innes of Oxford, MI.

Mr. Innes retired as supervisor from the Oscoda County, Michigan Road Commission, and currently was a security guard for E.R. Carpenter Company in Elkhart. He was a former police officer for Royal Oaks, Michigan before moving to Mio, MI. He also had worked part-time for the Elkhart Truth. He was a member of the Bristol United Methodist Church and served on the Trustees committee. He was a member of the Oddfellows and was an avid photographer. He supported the Blanket Drive started by his wife, Faye at the Bristol Methodist Church for Christmas 2008. He served with the U.S. Army during world war II.

Friends may call from 4-8 pm Friday at Bristol United Methodist Church, 201 S. Division St., Bristol and an hour prior to the 2:00 pm service on Saturday at the church. Reverend Fred Stayton will officiate. Cremation will follow services with burial to occur at a later date in Luzerne, MI. The D.A.V.# 19 will conduct military honors at the church following services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Bristol United Methodist Church.
