John Thomas Pauwels

John Thomas Pauwels, age 66, of Elkhart passed away on Monday, March 11, 2019 at Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart. John was born on September 19, 1952 in South Bend, IN to Edward and Lucille (Jaworski) Pauwels. He married Sarah Whisler on June 28, 1975 at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Elkhart.

John is survived by his wife, Sarah their children Amanda Pauwels of Chicago, IL and Laura (Austin) Slabach of Middlebury, IN and their grandson, Rowan Thomas Richard Slabach. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Jo (Jim) Koran of Naples, ME., brother, Gerard Pauwels of Bloomington, IN., and sister-in-law Anita Pauwels of Willow Park, TX. John was preceded in death by his parents, his brother James Pauwels and sister-in-law Colleen Pauwels.

John retired from Robert Weed Corporation. He received his Bachelor of Science from Purdue University in 1974. He was member of Faith Lutheran Church ELCA, Purdue Club of Elkhart County, Elkhart Lions Club and was a former member of the Elkhart Jaycee’s.

Friends may visit with family from 10am to 11am Friday March 15, 2019 at Faith Lutheran Church ELCA, 202 South Greene Road, Goshen, IN 46526. Funeral services will be at 11am with Pastor John Hickey officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Faith Lutheran Church ELCA.
