Joy Joan Blough, 89 of Bristol, passed away on Monday, Oct. 1, 2018 in her home. She was born April 2, 1929 in Mishawaka to Floyd and Ada (Kaufman) Nifong. She married Richard J. Blough on March 21, 1948 in Bristol. He died on March 20, 2013. Surviving are her children, David (Connie) Blough of Bristol, Dawn White of Bristol and Brent Blough of Elkhart, 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Earl, Russell, Floyd Jr., Walter and Ralph Nifong.
Joy graduated in 1947 from Bristol High School and was a cafeteria worker and bus driver for Elkhart Community Schools. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church and sang in the choir and helped with child evangelism in Elkhart County. She loved to sing country and western music with the Tumbleweeds and sang at Bonneyville Mill and liked to yodel. She was an avid collector of dolls, clocks, and dishes.
Visitation for Joy will be from 5-8 pm Thursday, Oct. 4th at Northside Baptist Church and an hour prior to funeral services at 1 pm Friday, Oct. 5th also at the church. Pastor Nathan Breneman will officiate. Burial will follow at Zion Cemetery.
