J.T. Redmond, 81, of Elkhart passed away at his home on Friday, April 14, 2023. J.T. was born on May 4, 1941 in Tutwiler, Mississippi to Sam and Irene Redmond. He married Bobbie J. Harris, she preceded him in death on August 15, 2020.
J.T. retired from Midland Ross Trucking. He enjoyed spending time at the casino, going to the parks to see nature at its finest. He was also known for his love for chocolate milk. His favorite time of all was the time he spent with his family and friends.
J.T. is survived by his children Nathan (Flora) Harris of Elkhart, Jerry (Lisa) Harris of Elkhart, Robert Redmond of Indianapolis, IN and Rosie Redmond of Elkhart; sibling Will D. ( Jackie) Redmond of Chicago, IL., Willie Earl (Mary Catherine) Redmond of Elkhart, IN, Limmie Epps of Chicago, IL and Jessie Mae Greenwood of Chicago, IL., grandchildren Angie (Titus) Hackworth, Dishal Woods, Chris Woods, Kindra Ramirez, Erick Ramirez, Ths’wjuan (Michelle) Bonds, Sararina D. Woods, Jeffrey Dorsey and Katrina P. Redmond; 19 great-grandchildren, his special friend and care giver Ernestine Barham of Elkhart and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and friends. J.T. was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Irene Redmond, his wife Bobbie J. “Lil’ Mama” Redmond, daughters Virgil and Sarah Redmond; siblings, Sam “Dune” Redmond Jr., Robert Lee Dotson, Pete Redmond, Katherine Robinson, Mammie Suggs, Mary “Honey” Washington, Gracie Kimbrough and his grandchildren, Mary Hamm and Bobbie Edwards.
A celebration of J.T.’s life will be celebrated from 12-1pm on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 where services will be held at 1pm.
