Judy Lynn Herrold

On Saturday, August 27, 2022, Judy Lynn Herrold went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus.

Beloved wife, mom, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, Judy was born in Elkhart on December 29, 1939, to Carroll Elsworth and Mary Elizabeth (Francisco) Borger. She was the eldest of eight children and was very close to her siblings Jon Borger who precedes her, Mary Jane Myers, Laura (Ross) Erickson, Tim (Joyce) Borger and Tom Borger (twin brothers), Annie Borger, and Lisa (Jeff) Weir. Judy graduated in 1957 from Three Rivers High School, Three Rivers, Mich.

On July 3, 1963 she married Robert Franklin Herrold III, who survives her. Together, they had three daughters, Dana (Jim) Ward, Leslie Brown, and Leanne (Scott) Phillips, and seven grandchildren, Adam (Nora) Ward, Lauren (David) Tajnai, Madylin Brown, Dylan Brown, Sophia Phillips, Grace and Luke Phillips (twins), and two great granddaughters, all who survive her.

She was a long-time member of River Oaks Community Church, Goshen, Ind., where she served on staff as an administrative assistant for 12 years, and taught women’s Bible studies for many years. A woman after God’s own heart, she made a difference in the lives of others.

Judy was full of wit and wisdom. The simplest pleasures in life like birds and gardening brought her joy. Many were blessed by her gift of hospitality. She loved spending time in her kitchen creating delicious meals for family and friends, and there was always dessert.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1, at River Oaks Community Church, 58020 County Road 115, Goshen, Ind., with a celebration of life service immediately following. A private graveside service will follow at Rice Cemetery, Elkhart.
