Julia N. Rody

Julia N. Rody, 78, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday April 23, at Kindred Hospital in Mishawaka. She was born June 28, 1934 in Ligonier to Walter and Inez (Hayden) Haid. She married William P. Rody on May 10, 1955. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1997.
Surviving are 2 sons: Steven (Shari) Rody and Christopher (Shelley) Rody and a daughter: Jill (Steve Hiles) Dixon all of Elkhart; 8 grandchildren: Stephanie, Patrick, Matthew, Angela, Lauren, Christine, Tyler and Ryan; 3 great-grandchildren: Gabriel, Alicia and Abby. She was preceded in death by a sister Sandy.

Julia retired as an Administrative Secretary after 25 years with Miles Laboratories, then worked for the Salvation Army Thrift Store.
She was an active member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, the Red Hat Society, Home Extension Club, Frontier Club, Elkhart General Hospital Auxiliary, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and served as a committee member for Elkhart High School Class of 1952 Reunions.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 pm Thursday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart. Services will be held at 10 am Friday at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Elkhart, with Dr. William Hemmig officiating. Burial will be in St. Vincent’s Cemetery at a later date.
