Larry Glendon Lakes, 59, of Elkhart, died at 2:30 pm Sunday, February 7, 2010 at his home.
He was born February 28, 1950 in Hamilton, Ohio to Earl Glendon and Irma Jean (Ross) Lakes. Surviving are a daughter, Heather (Jeremy) Bradley of Marion, IN, a son, Matthew Lakes of Wabash, IN; 3 grandchildren; 1 brother, Steven (Gerri) Lakes of Kansas City, MO and his former wife, Tami Lakes of Elkhart, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He graduated from Southwood High School, attended Ball State University and earned a degree in business administration from Taylor University. He was an administrator for several long-term care facilities and later worked for NIPSCO. He was a member of Jones Chapel Christian Church, Jonesboro, IN; Taylor University Alumni Association, Upland, IN; Past-president of Kiwanis International, Hartford City, IN.
A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd. Elkhart. There will be a private family memorial service later. Cremation has taken place.
