Larry D. Maier

Larry D. Maier, 69, of Elkhart, died Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 2:40 am at Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born June 21, 1940 in Tunnelton, West Virginia to Wesley and Elizabeth (Powell) Maier. He married Janice L. Johnson on May 5, 1979 in Elkhart. His wife Janice L .Maier survives with a son, Wesley D. Maier of Elkhart, 4 brother-in-laws, Stephen K. Johnson, Thomas K. Johnson, David (Donna) Johnson all of Elkhart, and Roger K. (Sue) Johnson of Alexandria, MN; 1 brother, Roger (Carol) Maier of Elkhart, ; 1 sister, Connie (Guy) Tignor of Virginia and an uncle, Edward Mamoran of Elkhart.

Mr. Maier retired from Monaco Coach Company in Wakarusa in January of 2008 as a tow motor driver. He enjoyed gardening, yardwork and was an avid Notre Dame football fan.

Visitation will be from 10 am until the 12 pm funeral service on Wednesday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd. Elkhart. Reverend David Garty will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Wellfield Botanic Gardens, Inc. in Elkhart.
