Lawrence A. Harman Jr., 85, of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away, January 5, 2009 at his home.He was born on January 5, 1924 in South Bend, Indiana to Lawrence A. Harman Sr. and Thelma Ann Van Dusen.He married Marian M. Hawkes on November 16, 1949 in Buchanan, Michigan.

She survives with three daughters; Jennifer (Dan) Nyers and Gail Carter both of South Bend, Indiana and Janet Bonham of Granger,IN.; a son, Lawrence A. (Jill) Harman of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Harman of California and John (Joan) Harman of Florida and a sister, Ann Roper of California. A daughter, Sharon L. Harman, preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Stemm Lawson Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Boulevard, Elkhart. Friends may call one hour prior to the service to visit with the family.

Mr. Harman worked as a Numerical control Technician at Bendix for 37 1/2 years. He was a member of the Lions club in Lakeville, the American Legion and Moose Lodge of South Bend. He loved to hunt, fish, play billiards and "rattle the bones". He was an honest man who had integrity and loved his family. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
