Lawrence J. Jackowiak

Lawrence “Jake” Jackowiak, 51, of Elkhart, died Friday, September 18, 2009 at 3:00 am at Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born December 20, 1957 in South Bend to Stanley and Wanda (Stankiewicz) Jackowiak. He married Robin M. Brown on October 16, 1982 in Auburn, Indiana.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Adam James and Eric Michael, and a daughter, Amy Marie, all at home; two brothers, Jeff (Chris) Jackowiak and Rob (Mary) Jackowiak, of Granger; and his mother, Wanda Jackowiak of South Bend. His father preceded him in death.

Mr. Jackowiak was Assistant Superintendent of Business for Concord Community Schools. He had been an athletic director, teacher and coach for Concord High School. He was a member of the Concord Rotary; Indiana Association of School Business Officials; Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents; past president of Indiana Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association; and a former National Certified Instructor of the American Sport Education Program. He was also a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church.

Visitation will be held Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am Tuesday at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, 1108 S. Main St., Elkhart. Father Glenn Kohrman will officiate. Cremation will follow.
