Leo R. (Doc) Stults, 88, of Bristol, passed away at 8:05 am, May 24, 2011, at Indiana University Health Goshen Hospital. He was born March 28, 1923 in Reed Springs, MO to Ray and Frieda Stults. On November 5, 1948, he married Charlotte Ann Bogstie in Seattle, WA who survives.
He is also survived by sons Ray (Lana) Stults of Bristol, Leo (Dee) Stults of Leesburg, IN, and Alan Stults of Bristol; daughter Marcia (Kim) McCavit of St. Joseph, MI; 10 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sisters Florence Barrett and Florine Derr, brother Leonard Stults, twin sisters who died in infancy, and a son Terrance Alan Stults.
He graduated from Bristol High School in 1941 and in 1946 graduated from Indiana University Dental School. He was a U.S. Army Captain during World War II. He practiced dentistry in Bristol for 38 years and served as a Bristol Town Board member and in various organizations. He enjoyed golf and helping members of his community. He was a prankster and enjoyed receiving and playing jokes on friends. He spread a little laughter everywhere he went. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bristol.
Friends may visit the family at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing, Elkhart, Thursday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm and one hour prior to the 11 am Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Father Bob VanKempen will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery in Bristol.
