Leslie H. Van Wormer, 85, of Elkhart, died October 16, 2010 at 5:45 am at Woodland Manor where he resided. He was born August 8, 1925 in Mishawaka to the late Frank L. and Ada R. (Lang) Van Wormer. He married Rosemary A. Morehouse in Elkhart on September 15, 1950. She died March 25, 1995.
He is survived 2 brothers Jack Van Wormer of Constantine, MI and Burton Van Wormer of Elkhart and several nieces and nephews. Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers Edward, Donald and Frank Van Wormer; sister Vivian Van Wormer; and step-brother Ted Galloway.
He worked at Ball Band in Mishawaka, was an extruder operator for 20 years at Bristol Products and retired in 1986 from Kemberly Corp. He was a veteran of the US Army, a member of American Legion #143 for 35 years, a member of the VFW Moose, as well as a Boy Scout leader for 15 years.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 am at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing, Elkhart, with visitation one hour prior. Rev. Hugh Johnson will officiate.
