Lewis C. Rush, 76, of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away at 5:15 am November 24, 2008 at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.
He was born January 10, 1932 in Elwood, Indiana to Cliffton and Mary Maria (Reckner) Rush. He married Virginia I. Pipes on December 24, 1950 in Rossville, GA. She survives along with 3 daughters, Barbara (Stephen) Keller, Linda (Tommy Prawat) Sissom and Connie (Davis) Long all of Elkhart, and a son, Randall (Bonnie) Rush of Goshen, IN; 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 3 sisters, Loretta (Doug) Butcher and Anna Layne both of Frankfort, IN and Opal Maxwell of Boise, ID. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 5 brothers.
Mr. Rush retired as owner of Rush Industries, a manufacturer to the Recreational Vehicle Industry. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and loved his children, grandchildren and family. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Friends may call 2 hours prior to the 1:00 pm service on Friday at the Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd. Elkhart. Pastor Jim Tormey of New Salem United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Military graveside honors will be rendered by the D.A.V. # 19, Elkhart.
Memorials may be given to Alzheimers Association.
