Lillian I. Helfrich

Lillian I. Helfrich, 93, of Elkhart, died at 4 am Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Courtyard Healthcare Center, Goshen.

She was born August 9, 1917 in South Bend to Orville and Lillian (LaPoint) Parvis and married Jack Y. Helfrich of August 29, 1937. He died on October 11, 1984. Surviving are 2 daughters, Kay (David) Streeter of Bristol and Jane (Fred) Mohr of Cape Coral, FL; 6 grandchildren, Chris Fann, Julie Streeter, Brian Fann, Steve Streeter, Kim Shuler and Amy Abercrombie; 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Raber, a brother, Eugene Parvis and a daughter Patricia Fann Dew.

She worked at Samuel Strong School as a secretary for 25 years and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing.

Family and friends may call from 10 am to 11 am Thursday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing, Elkhart where services will be held at 11 am. Pastor Tim Diemer will officiate. Burial will follow at Grace Lawn Cemetery, Elkhart.
